Social perception of the European Formula 1 Grand Prix in Valencia citizens

Abstract

The Research Unit of Physical and Sports Performance (UIRFIDE) of the Department of the University of Valencia, has established a line of research of major sport events in which one has been in line of this work. This investigation has been carried out after the execution of the Grand Prix Formula 1 celebrated in Valencia in 2008. 194 surveys have been carried out among the citizens of the city of Valencia, being 50% of them residents on the nearest districts to the Circuit. As most important results we can emphasize, that Valencia citizens have a great knowledge for Formula1, as well an extend majority has not hopes for the celebration of the event in the city. In your opinion, the event has a repercussion local and international, especially. Tourism and economy are the areas would be benefit with carrying out the event, and the organizers, the XX and the politics are the most benefit groups and otherwise, fewer benefits would be citizens. The interviewers think that level of preparation of the city is good for to organize this event, and 83% say that will not go to the event.
